Now that Thanksgiving has come and gone, it’s time to look forward to Christmas, one of the most magical- and stressful- times of the year. Aside from fighting the crowds at the mall, wrapping those gifts can also be a time-consuming chore. And so, we have tips on getting yourself organized to make your time as efficient as possible!
Tip #1: If you have wrapping supplies stored in different places in your home, take the time now to gather them and put them in one place. Inventory what you have and make a list of what you need to restock.
To save yourself the stress of corralling all of the different supplies next year, consider creating a wrapping station for yourself. This can be achieved by having something built-in:
Or repurposing an old armoire:
A couple of great features to keep in mind:
Rolls of wrapping paper are often hard to store because of their long, narrow shape. Consider having drawers built that are wide enough to store wrapping paper, such as these:
Use drawers with dividers to separate out your bows, gift tags, gift bags, etc. This way, you won’t have to dig through everything to find what you need and you can immediately see if you are running low and need to restock!
If you don’t have room for an entire wrapping station (we understand, space can be hard to come by) make a point of putting all of your wrapping supplies in a bin or set of drawers so when you need to wrap a gift for your daughter’s friend’s birthday party, you know where everything is.
Tip #2: Make a trip to the store and restock whatever you’re low on: tape, scissors, gift tags etc. We absolutely love the Scotch brand Gift Wrap Cutter- it cuts straight without the hassle of catching the paper.
Tip #3: Determine where you are going to set up shop. Make sure you have a large enough area to spread out a roll of wrapping paper and allow yourself room to move around the space. This could be the kitchen table, a desk, or an old game table that no one uses anymore (and my parents thought that old Ping Pong table was a waste of space). If possible, we suggest setting up your wrapping area in a less-used part of the house so that you’re not constantly having to move your supplies.
Tip #4: Clean up after each wrapping session so that the space is nice and clean and your supplies are easily accessible for the next time.
