For as long as I can remember, I have had the opportunity to attend several events revolving around the construction and home improvement world. The Parade of Homes with its glorious, albeit slightly over-the-top, homes displayed with the elegance of a dance; every detail was perfect from the gleam of the hand-carved solid wood front door to the fluffiness of every decorative pillow. Though the sheer size of the Parade forced attendees to walk miles (sometimes uphill), the homes were well worth it as they drew up memories of the dream houses we fantasized of as little girls playing with Barbie. Unfortunately, the Ken look-alikes weren’t included.
My favorite event, especially as a child, was the Colorado Home and Garden Show held at the Convention Center just outside of downtown Denver. Maybe it was the wide aisles that my brothers and I could run up and down or the many potential hiding spots for Hide-and-Go Seek, but mostly I think it was all the beautiful displays that were offered by local vendors. Window coverings, water features, closets, oh my!
As I grew older I came to appreciate the transforming ability these vendors offered- they specialized in converting the drab to fab and the cluttered to well, organized. Every year I looked forward to perusing the different booths to gather ideas for the house I would own in the distant future with my husband and 2.5 children. Barbie may have had the dream house, but hers was unchangeable, stuck in whatever decade the toy came to fruition. I, and all of you here in Colorado have the resources to keep your dream home modern, fresh and to your tastes. Take that, Barbie!
Come see the different ways these vendors can help you upgrade, change, or organize your home. Rarely are so many ideas and inspirations gathered in one place, so visit us- Closet Factory is in booth number 1958 and will have several units built for display!
The Show goes from February 13-th through the 21st, with hours of Monday-Thursday 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday 10:00 a.m.- 8:00 p.m. and Sunday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Tickets are $12 at the door or available at King Soopers for $10. If anything, come dream with the hopefuls and envy the able.
